Awake Tummy Tuck San Antonio
Tummy Tuck Surgery Performed Using Local Anesthetic
We offer local abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck," procedures at our San Antonio cosmetic surgery center for the benefit of patients throughout the South Texas area! Though there is always risk associated with surgery, the abdominoplasty procedure has proven to be safe and reliable, and is a great way to re-contour the belly. At Constance Barone, M.D., we believe that tummy tuck procedures can be a viable option for a variety of patients, but certain patients are ideal candidates, including:
- Individuals who have excess or sagging skin as a result of dramatic weight loss
- Women with loose tissue as a result of pregnancy
- Individuals who are looking to reverse the aging process
Though exercise and weight loss can be effective at reducing excess stomach fat, in some instances the elasticity of skin can be diminished as a result of having been stretched, and in such cases cosmetic surgery is often the only option to reintroduce a firm, flat fascia.
With decades of experience and state-of-the-art medical technology at her disposal, Dr. Barone can help craft a flatter, firmer, more beautiful abdominal area for you. If you are interested in scheduling a cosmetic consultation with Dr. Barone or think that a tummy tuck may be right for you and would like to learn more, we invite you to contact our plastic surgery center today! We pride ourselves on patient care at Constance Barone, M.D. and would be happy to work with you!
Learn More about Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty, commonly referred to as a tummy tuck, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is used to tighten and firm the abdomen. In an abdominoplasty procedure, the muscle and skin of the abdominal wall are tightened to give the patient a flatter, firmer, and more aesthetically appealing stomach. This process involves excess skin removal from the lower and middle abdomen as well as the removal of excess fat (sometimes through the utilization of liposuction or custom acoustic liposuction techniques) so that the muscle tissue and fascia can be pulled taught back into place. Though dependant on a number of factors, in many cases we can perform abdominoplasty procedures utilizing only local anesthetic. These local (or awake) techniques allow the patient to recover more quickly and more comfortably, and alleviate many of the symptoms typically associated with plastic surgery recovery. We believe that the benefits of local or awake surgery are obvious, and Dr. Barone is pleased to offer it to her patients!
