How JUVÉDERM® Works

JUVÉDERM® XC is an injectable gel that contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a substance that our bodies naturally produce. Without hyaluronic acid, the skin loses structure and volume, and begins to form wrinkles. JUVÉDERM® XC is approved to treat wrinkles that surround the nose and mouth (sometimes called "parentheses" lines), as well as marionette lines and vertical lines on the chin.

Hyaluronic acid binds with water molecules to create a plumping, volumizing effect in the skin. JUVÉDERM® XC is produced using HYLACROSS™ technology that makes this dermal filler exceptionally smooth and long lasting. How JUVÉDERM® XC is Injected

JUVÉDERM® XC is injected directly within the dermis of the skin using a very small needle.

Dr. Barone will speak with patients and evaluate their faces to determine where and how much medication will be injected in each area. Treatment takes only a few minutes, and patients are able to return to their daily activities immediately after it is complete.

JUVÉDERM® XC contains lidocaine, an anesthetic that provides a numbing effect so patients are more comfortable during treatment. After this dermal filler has been injected in the targeted areas, Dr. Barone may massage the area to help prevent swelling, and to help the filler material properly absorb within the dermis.
