The Consultation
Every patient has different cosmetic goals and expectations. Before treatment, you will first come in for a consultation with Dr. Barone. She will examine your skin and facial structure and speak with you about your current health and health history, as well as your cosmetic goals. You will learn about mini facelift and other treatment options so you can make an informed decision. Dr. Barone can explain the results you can expect from a mini facelift, and explain the differences between this and other plastic surgeries.
During your consult, you will not only learn more about mini facelift, but also the final cost you can expect to pay for treatment. The QuickLift™ treatment is often performed in conjunction with other treatments such as rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty. Combining treatments helps reduce your expenses for facility fees and anesthesia, and allows you to combine downtime into a single recover period.
Your Procedure
Mini facelift is less invasive than some other facial surgery. Dr. Barone makes incisions behind the ears where scars are discreet and easily hidden. From these incisions, Dr. Barone will carefully tighten your skin as well as the underlying tissues, called the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS). She will gently tighten sagging skin from the lower half of your face, removing any excess tissue.
After excess tissue is removed, Dr. Barone will close your incisions using a precision suturing technique that reduces the tension on your skin, minimizing the prominence of your visible scarring.
What to Expect
After your mini facelift, you may experience some mild bruising and swelling, although your recovery will be much less intense than with a traditional facelift. You can easily treat any discomfort with pain medication. Over-the-counter pain medication is often sufficient, but Dr. Barone will prescribe stronger medication if needed.
In addition to being less invasive and requiring less recovery time than a traditional facelift, mini facelift offers patients many other benefits, including:
- A smoother neck
- Natural-looking results
- The ability to return home immediately after surgery
- Longer-term results than with injectables
- Tightened jowls
- Better defined facial features and jawline
- Improved cheek contours
Most mini facelift patients are between the ages of 45 and 60, although Dr. Barone has performed this treatment for pages of different ages depending on their unique needs.
