Advanced CAL System
The custom acoustic liposuction (CAL) system effectively removes fat deposits with minimal impact to surrounding tissue. Also known as the Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (NIL) system, this method allows patients to feel less pain and soreness during recovery and return to normal physical activities faster. CAL liposuction uses low-frequency acoustic infrasonic vibrations to liquefy fat tissues before they are removed using a cannula, the device used in all lipo procedures to suction fatty tissue out of the treatment area. This differs from traditional liposuction, in which tissues are physically broken apart using a wand before being removed from the body.
Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction uses a unique blend of fluids, including local anesthesia and epinephrine. When injected, the solution numbs the area, shrinks blood vessels, and isolates the fat layer. This makes it easier to suction out the fat for a smoother procedure. Tumescent liposuction is designed to remove large amounts of fat tissue with minimal blood loss.
Super-Wet Liposuction
Similar to tumescent liposuction, super-wet liposuction uses medical fluids during surgery. During this procedure, the amount of fluid injected is less than what is used in tumescent liposuction – it equals the amount of fat removed. This variation can be completed in less time than tumescent liposuction, and is also specifically designed to minimize blood loss.

Does liposuction hurt?
Dr. Barone does everything she can to make liposuction as comfortable as possible. In addition to using local anesthesia to block pain at the surgical site, she can administer different types of sedation to help you completely relax. However, many of our patients are kept completely comfortable during awake liposuction.
How much fat does liposuction remove?
The FDA recommends plastic surgeons remove a maximum of 11 pounds of fat during liposuction to ensure the procedure is safe. Dr. Barone prioritizes patient safety and will only remove about five to eight pounds of fat during a liposuction procedure.
