Dr. Barone: This patient had a massive weight loss. She did it on her own. She exercised, she watched her weight, but she'll tell you, I think she lost about 130 pounds. She had a lot of loose skin. Her arms were hanging. She had loose adipose tissue or skin around her belly. She had loose muscles in that area. As an outpatient procedure, she had her, she was put to sleep and she had her full tummy tuck with muscle tightening. She then had her arms done under local anesthesia, using tumescent techniques, which is an infiltration of solution, a numbing solution, which goes in the arms. I was able to do her brachioplasty, or her arms, while she was awake. She's been extremely pleased with the results and she really looks fantastic.
Jeanette: I had the tummy tuck and then I had underarm lift, I decided with Dr. Barone. Of course, two of my friends have used her prior, but I went to several doctors before I even made my decision to see her, and I felt the most comfortable with her. I actually had one procedure, the tummy tuck, the first day, and then I had my second procedure, which was the underarm tuck, the second day.
When I had the tummy tuck, immediately that day I was already walking. I didn't feel much pain at all. I felt swollen but that was about it. I was able to maneuver around the house, lay in bed, sit in a chair. When I came in for my second surgery, I was fine. I had the underarm, but I had it under local. I felt like the underarm you use your arms more so that one was a little bit difficult for me. I was able to come home and most of the time I had to sit in a recliner, because, you know, you use your arms to sit up in bed and I just wanted to heal correctly, so I didn't want to apply any kind of pressure. The pain was minimal, it wasn't too much. I mean I didn't have to take a lot of pain medicine for that. I was able to deal with it because it wasn't so major. One of the main reasons why I came to Dr. Barone was her staff, and, of course, the good recommendations. I went to other plastic surgeons and I felt like they kind of brushed me off, or there was a lot of attitude. As soon as I walked in the door here everybody welcomed me. From the first day 'til I had my surgery, 'til even now, they address me, 'Hey, hi Jeanette. How are you?' They always know what's going on. The day after my surgery they even called to check on me, so they're very welcoming.
